Mistakes & Hold-ups In Processing Applications

7/7/2020

July 7, 2020 - As you might imagine, we encounter a myriad of reasons that slow down the processing of applications from incorrect forms being submitted, to missing information on an application, to red-flagged excessive expenses be reported. Here is a list of some of the most common reasons an application sits with a "partially" or "unverified" status:
  1. State tax forms not submitted - We always request Federal AND State tax returns to be sent to us, unless a state does not require filing a state return.
  2. Insurance expenses are excessive - Many applicants will list insurances that are already deducted from their paychecks, or other additional insurances that are not to be claimed (insurances such as indemnity, personal protection, supplemental gap plans, additional family cars and drivers, whole life policies). When we see monthly insurance amounts listed in excess of $400 we always ask for a breakdown of that number to make sure that number is accurate and allowed.
  3. Missing pay stubs - We always ask for the four most recent pay stubs per job. Many times we receive just one or two. Sometimes they are unreadable. On occasion a W2 form is sent instead of a pay stub.
  4. Missing income - We compare application entries to tax returns and are always looking for significant gaps of discrepancy. Sometimes miscellaneous income reported on a tax form is not reported on the application. Other times a number was entered incorrectly which could trigger a system request for further clarification.
  5. Emails or faxes being sent to the wrong number or address - Yes, this does happen and often times the sender thought they submitted documents, but we do not receive them.

Those are just a few of the examples that can hold up the verification process of an application. If a parent calls you wanting to know why there is a delay, always check "Review requested items" to see what might be missing, and also "Admin notes" where we often indicate what we are still waiting on. As always, feel free to refer a parent to us. Their best course of action is to email us so we can assist them most promptly. We have several email addresses which will all reach our desks, but customerservice@schoolright.net is an easy one to hand out.
