Best Practice Wording for School Websites
Here is our recommended wording for your website and to share with parents regarding the use of the CFS system (not BeneFAQ) when applying for financial aid.
-------
Our school offers need-based grants, as funds are available, to make tuition affordable for more families. We use a third-party organization to help us accurately and fairly assess a family’s ability to pay and, after review, award grants accordingly. Confidential Financial Services (CFS) has been supporting Christian families for over 20 years. They understand the importance of you providing your child with a Christian education, which is why we are glad to partner with them in this, their area of expertise. Their application process will request financial information from you that primarily consists of income, expenses, assets, and debts. CFS uses that information to calculate a “Family Anticipated Contribution Total” (FACT Report) and sends us that information. Once received, we will reach out to you to discuss the results. **NOTE** The program will soon be re-labelled to "BeneFAQ" (Benevolent Financial Aid Qualification).
OPTIONAL: Our process then includes a review of your financial plan for improving financial health and gradually reducing grant reliance in future years. Your plan can be crafted by working with a financial counselor, a pastor, or with a member of our Board. Our meeting can also address ways you could possibly provide non-monetary contributions to the school in exchange for grant funds, as we are always delighted to have (and need) helping hands in a variety of areas.)
To apply for tuition assistance for the upcoming school year, here is an outline of the steps you will need to fill out your confidential financial application through CFS. Our school code is #####. Follow the directions below.
Step 1: Navigate to www.cfslogin.com and either login to your account or create a new account if you do not yet have one.
Step 2: Once logged in, select "Create/View application" from the options on the left, or download an application to complete by hand.
Step 3: Enter our school number (#####) and select the school year for which you are applying.
Step 4: Follow the prompts to pay through PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account, but just a credit or debit card. The fee to complete an online application is $35. Paper applications can be downloaded and sent to CFS, along with a $40 fee (the downloadable application fee is not paid using PayPal).
Step 5: Once you make your payment, follow the prompts back to the Confidential Financial Services website, where your application will be opened for you to fill out.
Step 6: Fill out the application, making sure only to submit the application once completed. If you have any questions during the process, select the link to view online instructions.
Step 7: Once submitted, you will receive an email requesting supporting documents for the verification of your application as well as where to send those documents. CFS will begin verifying your application once they begin receiving documents from you and will reach out if they have further questions. They guarantee a 3-5 business day turnaround from the point they receive the final remaining documentation they request.
If you have questions about your application of supporting documents, it is best to email CFS at help@cfslogin.com, rather than call. They are prompt in their replies and will be very willing to help you as necessary.
